With women using their voices to raise concern on the bias in Hollywood that makes women a "minority group" on the big screen, we rounded up our favourite female-led movies for 2018!
Motherhood is a blessing, we know that. But the very unspoken side of the brutality of motherhood is not often spoken about, especially on the big screen. Tully does have its twist and turns that make it an interesting movie, but the take away piece should definitely be Charlize Theron portrayal of the difficulties of parenthood.
2. Ocean's 8
Following on from the extremely popular Ocean's series starring George Clooney, we finally get an Ocean's movie with an all female main cast. Excited is an understatement when we describe how we feel for this movie, with big names such as Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna just a few amazing women on the big screen in this film. In cinemas June 7, 2018.
3. I Feel Pretty
Sometimes, as women we can judge ourselves against other women. We put ourselves on a scale of where we are in 'prettiness' and wonder why we can't be as pretty as other women. This movie tackles that issue with the thought of 'changing everything, without changing anything.' The 'what if I was pretty for a day?' thought comes to life, without lead Amy Schumer actually changing a thing. Definitely one for people who like a laugh!
4. Mamma Mia! 2: Here We Go Again
Cher and Merryl Streep in the same movie together belting out Abba's best hits is a SURE box office hit and you probably have this on your list of movies to see when it is released, but in case you forget, here it is! A funny and light hearted movie that will be sure to get you in a good mood with a feel good strong woman filled cast!
5. Breaking In
Rarely do we get an action movie where a woman is the one responsible for rescuing others. We get the vindictive woman, the enemy woman, but rarely a woman by herself fighting to save her kids. This is exactly what Gabrielle Union does in this thriller, proving a mother's love is a force to be reckoned with.
