How Do I Get My Shit Together?

If you've clicked on this article, you probably feel like you don'y have your life together. Maybe you aren't where you expected to be in life, maybe life has being a little overwhelming lately, or maybe you've never really felt like you've had your life together. Well, buckle up because I'm about to drop some truth on you about this wild ride called life.

HAVING YOUR SHIT TOGETHER IS A MYTH.

Believing that we will finally have it all together when we finally secure that contract, buy a house or become CEO, is that same as putting all your belief you'll be happy 'just as soon as the bad days end.' Not to sound like a gloomy-Judy, but bad days happen to everyone, at any time. And while some situations are worse than others, your happiness doesn't have to be dependant on it improving. Nor does 'having your shit together' have to be dependant on you transforming your life, "Hollywood-style", with a fab soundtrack playing in the background while you remake yourself in less than five minutes.

This is not to say you shouldn't have goals or be continuously trying to be the best version of yourself you can. However, these goals are not the be all and end all of your existence. Having your shit together is a lie that was sold to you a long time ago. It's not a destination that is achieved by Doing All The Things. It's reflecting on what you want in life and trying your best to achieve that. It's not always achieving that every day, and knowing that that is OK. It's having accountability, but not beating yourself up about it. It's just being human.

But she has her shit together, why don't I?

Humans have a perpetually self-sabotaging quality about them that makes us believe the grass is greener where we are not. It's a lie. If you are comparing yourself to other women, to other mums, or other business owners, you have already lost. Despite what we've been taught since birth, great women are allowed to exist in the same space, without jealousy or comparison. A woman's capabilities, strengths, values or wonderfulness does not hinder yours. You are amazing and so is she. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Most importantly, it's time to let you in on a little secret. That woman you are in awe of? She doesn't have a clue what she's doing either. No one really does. Instead of comparing yourself to her, find your middle ground, talk openly about how life is overwhelming and scary and how clueless you sometimes feel. Chances are, she'll resonate with you, a LOT.

One of the biggest lessons I learned in my 26 years is that attitude is the 🔑 to everything. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How we choose to react when something goes wrong. How we choose to feel when we wake up. How we choose to respond to other people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we think happy, we become happy. When we send out positive vibes, positivity surround us. When we are intentional with our actions, we feel more aligned. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Life is messy, beautiful, and filled with chaos. It’s imperfect yet perfect at the same time. It challenges us to be brave and be bold. It toughens us during hard times and soften us for love. All of it molds us to become who we are destined to be — if we allow it to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So show up everyday with joy and stand in the light ✨. Don’t shy away from the messiness, the pain, the risks, or the discouragement. Remind yourself to keep moving forward with an unwavering amount of hope ➡️ Because I promise you, it’ll all end up working out the way it’s supposed to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #DailyReminder #MakeWavesMonday #BeHappy #HerTimeToLead

Really? But everyone else seems to have it together but me.

I promise, that's a big, fat lie.

Can I do anything to make it feel like I do have my shit together?

As long as you're setting realistic goals for yourself, and (most days) doing what you can to achieve those goals, you're on the right path. If you make up with determination, and passion, and can find the happiness in an average or bad day, you already have your shit more together than you think. And remember, if all else fails, 'faking it 'til you make it' is totally OK too.
