How To Create A Business Mood Board

Whether your just have an idea you'd love to explore, or you have been running your business for quite some time, business mood boards are a great way to identify your brand, goals, and overall ideas for your business. But what is a mood board and how can you make it work for your business?

What is a mood board?

A mood board is a board, whether physical or digital, that is planned out in a way to showcase and reflect your ultimate business brand, ideas and values. Acting as a way to identify your business branding, it can be really helpful in planning out exactly what you want your business to represent and how you want customers to perceive you. It can be eye opening as well, and help you plan who your target market is, and help with marketing problems.

How To:

So that sounds great! But how do you make a mood board. Firstly, start off with the basic of whether you want this to be a physical board or a digital one. For people like me who need something physical in front of them at all times, its an obvious choice. However, physical boards have their downsides, with costs, making it a little bit harder to put together, and also making it harder to share with the outside world. Once you've decided on the type of mood board, you now must decide on the size. A good A3 size can work well, but any size you like works too! Now the fun part, brainstorming! Think about how you visualise your brand. What do you want your brand to say? What do you want customers to take away from your business at the end of the day? What items, colours and objects does your brand and business identify with? What people does it identify with? Research and ask yourself as much as you can, and then find images that correlate with your answers. Putting it together in a visually appealing way might be tricky for some, so check out the mood board template we have below! Most of all, make sure this is true to you and your business. Your business is a reflection of yourself and your brand so make sure your personality shines through!
